Private day tour from Podgorica to Skadar Lake and Bar.

Lake Skadar, panoramic viewpoints and the historic Old Town of Bar — in one full day, with a local guide.

Introduction

One of the most natural day trips from Podgorica combines two things Montenegro does extremely well: dramatic lake landscapes and quiet, atmospheric historic towns. This private tour takes you from Podgorica down to Lake Skadar, through scenic viewpoints, and on to the Old Town of Bar — all in one day, with a local guide.

Who this tour is for

  • Travelers spending 2+ days in Podgorica who want to see more than the city.
  • Anyone who prefers a relaxed private experience over a packaged group tour.
  • Photographers — the route includes some of the strongest viewpoints in southern Montenegro.
  • Couples, small groups and families.

Why start from Podgorica

Most travelers think of starting from the coast, but Podgorica is geographically the most efficient base for combining Lake Skadar and Bar in a single day. Less driving, more time at the actual stops.

Suggested itinerary

Skadar Lake

The largest lake in the Balkans — wetlands, traditional villages, and panoramic views from above. The classic stop is Pavlova Strana, the postcard horseshoe bend of the Crnojevića river.

Optional Niagara Falls or Dajbabe Monastery stop

On request, the route can include a short stop at Niagara Falls on the Cijevna river or at the Dajbabe Monastery on the way out of Podgorica.

Scenic viewpoints

Several panoramic stops along the road between Podgorica and the coast — short, high-impact, photographer-friendly.

Old Town Bar

The historic ruins of Stari Bar — one of the most atmospheric old towns in Montenegro. Stone streets, ancient walls, mountain backdrop, and a much slower rhythm than the coast below.
